Why Octopizzo’s Voices of Kibra Project is a Masterpiece

Rapper Octopizzo on Sunday, September 10 officially launched the Voices of Kibra album at the Alchemist in Westlands Nairobi. The mini concert attracted a Hip Hop audience that filled the event to the brim.

Octopizzo had worked on the project with different artists that included Femcee Tasha Exclusive, Kushman Sharizzy, spoken word sensation Broken Angel, rapper Cafu among others. The album had over 20 songs that were played throughout the show.

After listening to all the songs at the listening party, here is a quick analysis on why I think the whole project is genius.

Voices of Kibra by Octopizzo has that expectation to be a Hip Hop project. Being an Octopizzo fan, it surprised many that there were so many genres covered on the album. Spoken word poetry was a surprising addition as it blended well with the other tracks.

Songs from Nira and UK Fiesta band also gelled well in the album providing the much needed change when the playlist was shared. The album is a cocktail of music that amazed fans as the party continued.

Involving artists from the area also brought out the authenticity. We have had major challenges when it comes to giving spots for local artists to participate in projects. Octopizzo fulfilled this by making sure the project only had artists from that region.

On performance, it was restricted at the event on strict directions from Octopizzo. He did not allow any artists to perform unless they were being paid. This showed that despite the artists on the album being present, they would only perform if money was involved.
