Ruto Speaks on Raila’s Debate Fears

Kenyan Kwanza principal William Ruto has come out to slam his opponent and Azimio la Umoja candidate over what he calls fear of attending the presidential debate. Ruto on Sunday, July 24 claimed that Raila Odinga was afraid to attend the debate because he did not have an agenda.

“Raila has feared going for the debate because they have no plan and agenda. They have no policies to sell, that is why they are wondering what they will come to do in the debate,” William Ruto said.

Ruto responded to reports that were circulating saying that the ODM principal would not attend the debate scheduled for Tuesday, July 26. Raila’s team claimed that he would not be participating in the event.

The presidential debate was set to attract the 4 candidates that have been cleared by the IEBC. Raila Odinga of Azimio La Umoja, William Ruto of Kenya Kwanza, George Wajackoyah of Roots Party, and Agano Party’s David Mwaure have all been invited.

Mwaure and Wajackoyah were scheduled to face off in the first debate to which the latter claimed would be a biased match. Wajackoyah said that he would only attend the debate if all the presidential candidate were on one stage.

It is yet to be seen how the debate will go or if it will take place at all. The boycotting by the frontrunners might be a hurdle that the media will struggle to beat.
