Junet Mohammed responds to the IEBC Commission’s proposed changes.
As more information about the proposed modifications to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Act becomes available, ODM Leader Junet Mohammed has spoken.
As per the law submitted to the Parliament, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission selection committee would not be subject to revisions, according to the Suna East Member of Parliament.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Amendment Bill 2022 has proposed changes to the Commission, requiring that the IEBC Commission Selection panel be changed to have one man and one woman nominated for the Parliamentary Service Commission, one person nominated by the Public Service Commission, one person nominated by the Political Parties Liason Committee, one person nominated by the Law Society of Kenya, and one person nominated by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and two more people who were proposed by the Kenyan Interreligious Council.
