Bahati cries fowl over Jubilee-ODM ticket Wrangles

Musician Kevin Bahati is at crossroads again after he faces an uncertain political future. This comes after Azimio One Kenya Alliance endorsed Anthony Oluoch as the one candidate to run for the Mathare Parliamentary seat On Monday, June 27.

According to a report by Citizen TV, the musician complained that he was being forced out of competing because he felt there was an agenda against him. Bahati revealed that the ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna was not speaking on behalf of the movement.

“Rachel Shebesh is not the Jubilee spokesperson in Nairobi so she should not speak on behalf of the party. Sifuna and Shebesh are only working against me,” the singer reported.

Gitonga Ndegwa, chairman of Jubilee Nairobi claimed that the only candidate he knew about was Anthony Oluoch who would not face competition from any other party in the Azimio coalition. He also mentioned that Bahati had been asked to stop campaigning as the movement was only endorsing one candidate.

Bahati, however, kept insisting that he would not be forced out and also mentioned that the job they kept promising him was not what he wanted. “Shebesh anaoungelea kunipatia kazi, amesikia sina kazi?” Bahati asked in a news conference last night.

The singer even followed Sifuna on social media and slammed him for mentioning his wife Diana in a statement he made over the announcement.

It is yet to be seen how the whole fiasco goes and if the young musician will be allowed to contest the seat or his political future will be just as short.
