
NTSA Suspends Modern Coast after Grisly Accident

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended the license of Modern Coast buses. According to a memo that came out on Monday, July 25, NTSA announced that it had made the decision after Sunday’s accident.
The report that was shared on Twitter noted that NTSA had come to the decision after what was one of the worst accidents this year.
The report read in part: Following a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Sunday 24th July 2022, at the Nithi Bridge, Tharaka Nithi County that has since claimed the lives of 33 passengers, the authority hereby halts the operations of Modern Coast Limited.
This involves all 31 vehicles belonging to the company and operating different routes all over the country.
The routes involved:
Nairobi – Mombasa
Mombasa-Mtwapa-Kilifi-Malindi-Witu-Mpeketoni-Lamu
Nairobi-Nakuru-Kisumu-Kakamega-Busia
Nairobi-Nakuru-Kisumu- Eldoret- Malaba
Nairobi-Narok-Kisii-Homabay-Migori- isibania
Mombasa-Makindu-Wote-Kitui-Machakos
Nairobi-Thika-Embu-Meru-Maua
